Napa-Solano Kestrel Nest Box Initiative

American Kestrels need your help! For reasons not completely understood, kestrel populations have been steadily declining in many areas of North America. In an effort to better understand this unfortunate trend, the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) has announced the Napa-Solano Kestrel Nest Box Initiative.

Led by UCCE Human-Wildlife Interactions Advisor Breanna Martinico, this initiative aims to create a wide network of existing & newly installed kestrel nest boxes they can monitor long-term.

If you are an owner/property manager of an open-space or agricultural property, please consider joining this network of well-monitored kestrel nest boxes.

If you have existing kestrel boxes, contact Breanna Martinico: bmartinico@ucanr.edu or (707) 253-4141.

If you would like to have a kestrel box installed, contact Tom Clark, Clark Sustainable Solutions: tom@clarkclaudon.com or (707) 484-4920.

Price breakdown for kestrel box installation:

Kestrel box only: $100 per box

Kestrel box installation: $185 per box

Site visit: $110 per property
