NWR Needs a new home!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Everyone can agree that Napa County deserves a permanent wildlife center. What everyone doesn’t know is that although Napa Wildlife Rescue is the only local organization licensed by CA Dept. of Fish & Wildlife to handle and rehabilitate orphaned, sick and injured animals, we do not own the land we live on. Like many of the animals we serve, we are facing imminent “loss of habitat” and we need your help to secure a permanent home.

Although we have benefitted from leasing land from the County while in turn providing a valuable service to the humans and wildlife of Napa, the County is unable to renew our lease. NWR takes in approximately 1200 animals each year with the mission of providing medical care, food and housing until they can be released back into the wild. We are not willing to give up on this mission, and we know that you wouldn’t want us to. That’s why we are reaching out: We need your help in finding a new facility by June of 2020.

WHAT WE NEED IN A NEW HOME

NWR needs two or more acres, with or without structures. The property must be quiet, easily accessible and have utilities or the ability to easily extend utilities there. Property in the Napa unincorporated area needs to be zoned Ag Watershed. Other non-residential zoning districts may be appropriate within incorporated areas.

We are interested in a longterm lease or purchase. Tax benefits may be available for donation of property or for a sale at a reduced value. NWR is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.

None of the four properties that we have already considered will be viable options for us. We are interested in hearing about and looking at everything. Please contact: John Comisky, President qualjohn@hotmail.com Carol Poole, Vice-President cpoole1135@yahoo.com
