Story of the Fox

Story of the Fox

This is a story of a young male fox, and a story that may ring true as this archetype is as old as dirt. It’s about leaving home, learning to accept help, and moving into adulthood. Or maybe it’s just a story about a fox, one of many. This young grey fox is just the age where he would be dispersing from his family unit, learning to make his way in the wilds. Some of us are more successful at this first leap into the world than others, we all travel our own pace. This young fox was found at Adobe Lumber in American Canyon, hiding under a car. He went into the humane trap with no resistance, lured by the promise of tuna. We found him to be thin and full of worms, but those are things we can easily remedy. We’ll give him some time, some space, a watchful eye. He’ll get to practice hunting before stepping into adulthood, with a strong body and strong fox skills.

We’ll know we’ve done our job when his tail waves goodbye.
